March 28th, 2008 Regular Replacement of BMW Oxygen Sensors Needed for Preventive Maintenance

Preventive maintenance–this is the main reason being cited by
the leading oxygen sensor manufacturers why they would advice
BMW owners to replace the O2 sensors of their vehicles
periodically. A damaged oxygen sensor can greatly increase the
fuel consumption of a vehicle. Further, the failure of the BMW
oxygen sensor may cause damages on other parts of the vehicle,
especially on the catalytic converter which is necessary for
emissions control.

An automotive oxygen sensor is a small
electronic sensor inserted into the exhaust system of most
engine-fueled vehicles, especially on those manufactured after
1980. Vehicles manufactured in the 1980s are usually equipped
with one or two oxygen sensors, usually located on the branch
manifold before the catalytic converter. This number, however,
has been doubled after the introduction of the Onboard
Diagnostic II (ODBII), with the added sensors usually placed
after the catalytic converter to measure its efficiency.

The main function of automotive oxygen sensors is to measure the
volume of oxygen remaining on the exhaust gas. The data obtained
by the oxygen sensor would then be delivered to the engine
management ECU computer. Based on this data, the ECU computer
would then adjust the amount of fuel to be delivered to the
engine. If the oxygen sensor gets damaged, this function of the
ECU computer would be compromised, usually resulting to feeding
the engine with more gasoline than what it actually needs. Such
richness in the fuel-to-air ratio would also cause the catalytic
converter to run hotter than normal, a condition that may lead
to the eventual failure of the converter.

To prevent such things from happening, oxygen sensor
manufacturers advise that oxygen sensors be replaced at regular
intervals. For vehicles manufactured prior to the implementation
of the OBDII, unheated oxygen sensors must be replaced after
every 30,000 to 50,000 miles while heated oxygen sensors after
every 60,000 miles. For those vehicles with OBDII (vehicles
manufactured in the mid-1990s and newer), the replacement of
oxygen sensors is recommended after every 100,000 miles.

By replacing the BMW oxygen
sensor
at the said intervals, BMW owners will be assured
that the emission levels and the fuel consumption of their
vehicles will be held at the minimum. The power generation of
the vehicle’s engine is also guaranteed to become more efficient.

In an attempt to be of better service to every BMW owner, Auto Parts Corner offers high quality and high
performance BMW parts over the Internet. BMW oxygen
sensors are among the newest products being offered by this
reliable online auto parts supplier, which also offers other
high quality auto parts and accessories like speed sensors, harmonic balancers, sound deadeners, billet grilles, AC compressor, and others. And
because Auto Parts Corner is available 24-hours over the
Internet, BMW owners can be assured of a BMW O2 sensor source
whenever it is time to replace the sensors of their vehicle.

March 28th, 2008 Waterproof Your Basement The Easy Way

Sometimes we become aware of leaks at the worst time - when the rains pour. There are, however, different ways to fix these problems. One way of fixing it is to use waterproofing. The concept of waterproofing is based on the premise that all structures, whether a house or a building, should be weathertight. This means that the structure should be able to withstand whatever weather occurs, especially during the rainy season. In this aspect, there should be no leaks or condensation allowed to seep through.

1. Waterproofing

Concrete waterproofing is gradually taking center stage as it continuously proved its efficiency at the same time boasting its affordability. Many people are opting for concrete waterproofing because they find it more economical than the other types of waterproofing.

2. The Concept

Basically, concrete waterproofing is used to prevent seepage and leakage of water to the structure. It utilizes the catalytic reaction to close up holes, contraction cracks, and passageways that are common to most concrete walls. Concrete waterproofing uses crystalline as its basic component because it infiltrates deep within the concrete. As it seeps through, it does not merely wrap up the hairline cracks but also the existence of humidity and further fissures that are embedded deep within the concrete walls.

As the mixture is applied to the concrete’s exterior, catalytic reaction takes place and develops some inches of non-soluble crystalline fibers within the holes and capillary tracts of the concrete. In turn, these crystalline fibers close the cracks and provide protection against further infiltration of water from all routes.

3. The Composition

Before, concrete waterproofing was mainly used in buildings and industrial structures. But with further developments, concrete waterproofing is now house-friendly and can be readily applied for residential use. The suburban composition of concrete waterproofing is composed of waterless powder mixture of Portland cement with proprietary chemicals and very refined silica sand. It is so easy to apply because it only needs water for application.

4. The Advantages

- Less costly than solvent-based waterproofing

- It’s easy to apply

- Eradicates the expense and difficulty of re-excavating present groundwork just to patch up a seepage

- It’s safe (non-flammable, odorless)

- It is more durable and reliable

- Can endure all kinds of harmful elements in the surroundings like harmful chemicals and salt sprays

5. The Application

- Clean the surface first and free the area from any dirt and dust. Unlikely substance may cause the mixture to not stick.

- Apply the mixture and let it stand for two to three days.

- Regularly apply water to the surface during the two to three days curing period. This is to ensure that enough moisture is present so as to complete the catalytic reaction

You can do this by spraying small quantities of water enough to moisten the surface, backfilling the surface with damp soil, or covering with soaked burlap. By occasionally applying moisture to the area, the reaction will speed up and the process will be finished earlier. So, after doing all these, you can now be assured that your house will be leak-free when the rain comes. You can now enjoy rainy days without a drop from the inside.

March 28th, 2008 Why Every Website Needs A Usability Analysis

There are technically thousands of websites on the Internet, that either provide services or products. And I’m sure that if you are reading this you are one of them. You may be asking yourself, how do I get more visitors to come to my website and after that how do I get them to purchaser what I’m selling? Many will say you must optimize your website for search engines and others will say Paid Advertising is the way to go. However, the truth of the matter is, if you have a website that is difficult to use, does not provide enough information or just plain sucks, no marketing medium you use will work. I understand that is a difficult pill to swallow, but it is the absolute truth.

Sure, you can get people on your website, however when they get there, they must be able to navigate easily, find what they want, and make a purchase without any effort. This is the key to getting and keeping online customers.

Having a usability analysis can provide an eye-opening look into how website visitors see your website and can gives you an exact game plan on what needs to be changed in order of importance.

A usability analysis often covers four main topics:

1. Navigation

Your website’s navigational structure is one of the most important elements on your website. Your navigation is what helps website visitors travel through your website to find more information on your services, products, company, and industry. If your navigation is not consistent or does not provide links to all of the major sections on your website, visitors may become annoyed and leave. It is also important to place global navigation text links in the footer of every page. This assists site visitors with navigating your site, whether they are at the bottom of a page or at the top.

2. Content

Your website’s content is another extremely important element in the success of your website. It is important to provide website visitors with as much information about your products, services, company and industry as possible. Always remember, an informed customer is the best customer.

3. Functionality

Your website’s degree of complexity often determines whether a website visitor will stay and browse or get frustrated and leave. If you have elements that do not work or pages that do not load, you could be loosing customers. Also, if you have a section that you would like to add to your website, do not use a “Coming Soon” page. This does nothing more than frustrate your website visitors, forcing them to leave, and not return.

4. Security

When selling a product or collecting information about your website visitors, it is imperative that your site be secure. Hackers are everywhere and watching everything. Not providing a secure environment for your website visitors can be detrimental to your website and your company.

Website usability analysis reports are not very expensive and can save your website and company a lot of money and heartache. Once you know the disease that plagues your website, you can then take steps to cure it. Remember, knowing is half the battle.

March 27th, 2008 Who Do You Not Want?

If there is one thing you can do in your coaching practice to dramatically increase your client-attracting abilities it is to become crystal clear on exactly who your ideal clients are.

However, in my experience working with coaches to help them to identify their target clients, this is easier said than done. It takes work. It takes effort. It takes… thinking!

“Few people think more than two or three times a year. I’ve made an international reputation for myself by thinking once or twice a week.”

George Bernard Shaw

To help you to identify your ideal target market, I’d normally recommend that you look at a number of key areas. This normally involves techniques to help you to get clear on who you would ideally like to work with in your coaching practice.

However, there is another way that can sometimes be quicker and easier too…

Which type of clients do you not want?

You see, effective marketing is as much a process of screening out clients you don’t want to work with as it is in selecting clients you do want to attract into your coaching practice. Whilst at first this may seem counter-intuitive, it will dramatically increase the effectiveness of your client-attracting efforts.

Here are some points to think about:

1. Past clients - Think back on the clients you’ve worked with so far - paid, pro-bono or otherwise. Did you have any clients you didn’t particularly resonate with? Have you had any clients you’ve really not enjoyed?

2. Current clients - Are you working with any clients at the moment that you find hard or not enjoyable? Do you have any clients you don’t particularly resonate with?

3. Flip it - Consider the characteristics of people you’ve listed in points 1 and 2 above. How would you describe them? Now flip these characteristics over to positive attributes that you prefer. This will give you pointers on the type of clients you do want.

4. Note it - Write out a description of the type of clients you do want to be attracting into your coaching practice. Often, these will be the opposite of the points noted above.

As way of example, in the early days of my coaching career when I had a general coaching practice, I found that I attracted people from a wide range of backgrounds and personalities :-) Most were enjoyable to work with but some client calls I did not look forward to at all.

Using the process above, I identified a client who was pretty self-centred and particularly avaricious. Flipping this over I was able to get clearer that the type of people I wanted to work with cared about others as well as themselves.

If you’re in a position of working with some clients you may not enjoy, you may want to consider the steps above. Otherwise, you’re not serving the client, your practice or yourself well at all. Doesn’t it make sense that if you work with clients you enjoy then everyone wins by getting better results?

March 27th, 2008 Acne Treatment Options

It is presumed that around seventy percent of all teenagers and young adults suffer from some forms of acne. However, men and women in their mid ages can also suffer from acne. Though the exact cause of acne remains unclear, more is known about how the spots and blemishes which are part of acne form. Of late, there are innumerable numbers treatments to help deal with this distressing condition.

Acne is not a common complaint; it is known to be a source of considerable emotional distress and social embarrassment. How ever, there are a large numbers of acne treatment options to tackle this problem.

Home treatment option is the most common among the most households; acne treatment method being very simple and mostly improvised over experience gained over years. Always try to keep the spot-prone areas very clean, so wash the affected area twice a day with a un perfumed and non oily cleanser. Antibacterial face washes and soaps specifically for greasy skins are also available. How ever, your skin needs a minimum amount of oil in your skin to maintain its natural condition. Thus it is required to avoid aggressive washing action with hard soaps.

Never pick at spots; over squeezing can cause permanent scarring. During summer months, acne tends to be less problematic as the sunshine helps to dry the skin. How ever, no home treatment will start working immediately; it can take weeks, if not months, to observe any noticeable healing results.
Non prescription remedies though over-the-counter remedies are also used to treat acne. Lotions with Benzoyl peroxide have the tendency to dry out the skin and encourage it to shed the surface layer of dead skin. Benzoyl peroxide also displays an antibacterial action. Cumulatively, these combined effects make it harder for oily pores to become blocked and for infection to develop. Benzoyl peroxide can cause redness and peeling, especially during the initial stages. How ever, this tends to settle down within a few days.

To get acne treatment, if you consult your physician, you will be prescribed, some times, to start treatment with a preparation containing Benzoyl peroxide. If these options do not work for you, then there are a range of other treatment options which can either be rubbed onto the skin (topical) or taken in tablet form (oral).

Several topical treatments are available for you to try and test. Azelaic acid, an alternative to Benzoyl peroxide, may cause less skin soreness. Topical Retinoids, medicines based on vitamin A, can be rubbed into the skin once or twice a day. Retinoids work by stimulating the outer layer of skin to flake off, and may cause irritation and skin peeling at the start of treatment. How ever, sun light may make your skin more sensitive with this treatment. Topical anti bacterial solutions may reduce the intensity of the problem. Treatment should be continued for at least six months. Preparations that combine an antibiotic with other acne medication are available.

For treating Acne, more revolutionary methods have been introduced recently, which recommend the use of oral tablets and preparations. Oral antibiotics (tablets), taken daily for around 3 months, is prescribed for inflammatory type of acne. This causes to kill off the bacteria infecting the skin. Many strains of bacteria tend to become resistant to oral medications. The treatment period may extend to 6 months and Benzoyl peroxide, is often also prescribed at the same time.
For women, prescription with a standard combined oral contraceptive pill (containing an oestrogen and a progestogen) can improve acne symptoms. How ever, this treatment may not work for all women.

Isotretinoin is a powerful medicine known as an oral retinoid - which also usually exists in topical form. It is prescribed to be used in severe forms of acne that have proved too resistant to other treatments. It works efficiently by drying up oily secretions, which emanates from skin pores. This medication is associated with serious side effects which are highly adverse to patients. It can also damage an unborn baby if taken by a pregnant woman. This medication is prescribed only by your physician.

Acne treatment is known to be very tricky, as the patient infected, faces serious emotional distress during the treatment. Acne treatment is usually prescribed by qualified professionals and their guidance is absolutely necessary.

March 27th, 2008 Business Innovation - Radical and Disruptive Innovation

Creativity can be defined as problem identification and idea generation whilst innovation can be defined as idea selection, development and commercialisation.

There are other useful definitions in this field, for example, creativity can be defined as consisting of a number of ideas, a number of diverse ideas and a number of novel ideas.

There are distinct processes that enhance problem identification and idea generation and, similarly, distinct processes that enhance idea selection, development and commercialisation. Whilst there is no sure fire route to commercial success, these processes improve the probability that good ideas will be generated and selected and that investment in developing and commercialising those ideas will not be wasted.

Radical and Disruptive Innovation

One of the most interesting aspects of creativity and innovation is the relationship between incremental and radical change.

a) Incremental change leads to radical shifts. A look at the work of many innovators shows that they tend to experiment for long periods with an idea, followed by a radical shift into new territory.

b) The shift into radically new territory results from the input of new knowledge or perspective or simply boredom with the old approach.

c) The distance between the original idea and the final idea increases exponentially when sustained tinkering is involved.

d) Radical experimentation benefits from the competencies learned whilst incrementally toying with previous ideas.

March 27th, 2008 The Usefulness of Covert Listening Devices

Covert listening devices are among the most useful pieces of
spy equipment available. They are relatively easy to come by,
and they can be very reasonably priced. Covert listening devices
can allow you obtain information that you need, that you might
not normally have access to. These spy bugs allow you access to
the plans of others, and they can even help you protect yourself
and gather information concerning things that affect you, that
you may not normally be privy to. One of the most common uses
for covert listening devices is to help monitor the workplace.
It is fairly simple to hide the devices above a suspended
ceiling to ensure that there is a minimum of time wasted on chit
chat. While there is no way to completely eliminate non-work
conversations, you can certainly cut down on them by listening
in to the work environment and taking appropriate action. Covert
listening devices are also very helpful when you are
investigating a partner’s faithfulness. You can hide them around
the house to pick up indications of clandestine visitors, or you
can even use cell phones as spy bugs to listen to their
conversations with others. This information can be very useful
in a divorce case and also to establish yourself in the right.
If you are going to have a conversation with someone that might
turn into a threat against yourself, or if you are going to be
making verbal agreements, covert listening devices are great
ways for you to protect yourself. You can transmit the entire
conversation to a recording device and use it later for evidence
as needed or to enforce a verbal commitment. You can protect
your good name and make sure that someone else doesn’t try to
wiggle out of a pact if you make use of listening devices that
can record conversation. Listening devices are very important
parts of an arsenal of spy gear. They have many uses and can be
used to help you accomplish a great many things, or even to
avoid information ambushes. For the enterprising person who
wants to stay ahead, there are always uses for covert listening
devices. (c) 2005 Copyright www.spyassociates.com. This article

March 27th, 2008 The Magic Of Email

These days email is taken for granted and used perhaps
without fully appreciating its power.

For example, recently I had some concerns about whether
or not my newsletter was being properly delivered through
the automated service that I use.

I decided to send a note to my subscribers and ask them
to simply reply to let me know that they received my
message which was sent through the same automated system.

Very soon I began to receive hundreds of replies from all
over the world to let me know my message was getting
through. I replied to each one personally to express my
gratitude for their reply and for my appreciation of the
ease of communication through the World Wide Web.

The messages I received were not limited to simple replies
to let me know that my newsletter was being received. I
began to receive the most wonderful testimonials of
gratitude!

Subscribers wrote to tell me that my newsletter makes a
difference in their lives - and that they forward it to
friends they care about.

I began several profound email exchanges with subscribers
who told me that something they read in my newsletter
had been a turning point for them after years of not
knowing that they could live life differently.

Imagine how I felt to learn that one simple thing I
shared could make such a difference in someone’s life!

I was overjoyed!

Email is a powerful tool and it can be used to do good
in the world. The next time you send an email, know
that you could just be putting a smile on someone’s face
or communicating with someone who needs to to be touched
by something that you say.

Just think! If I had not sent that one little email, I
may never have known I was making a difference in a big
way!

May your email make a difference in someone’s life today!
