There have been plenty of rumours surrounding the Cheryl Cole and Ashley Cole relationship of late.

Ashley has reportedly refused to attend parties and celebrations after Cheryl’s debut solo single went straight to number one. In return Mrs Cole has been notably absent from some important Chelsea games.

But the speculation was fuelled even further when Cheryl Cole’s wedding ring was missing from her finger on Saturday AND Sunday night’s X Factor shows.

Insiders revealed to the Daily Mail that Cheryl Cole had been washing her hands and simply forgot to replace the £160,000 sparkler, which seemed an unlikely explanation considering the rock was missing two nights in a row.

Thanks to a friend of hers, though, the whole matter has been cleared up.

It turns out that Cheryl Cole wasn’t wearing the ring because it clashed with her outfit… twice.

The pal told the Sun: “She put it on afterwards.”

Presumably after the show, she had an outfit ready that didn’t clash.
