June 27th, 2009 Are You Eligible for Tax Credits?

With the recession raging on in 2009, it’s critical to realise what benefits you may be eligible for from the government. Every year, tens of millions of British pound sterlings worth of tax credits go unclaimed. A portion of that dosh may well have been earmarked for yourself, if only you knew you were eligible for it. Be it a child tax credit, working tax credit, or family tax credit, it’s advised to do your homework and find out what kind of benefits you’re eligible for.

A good place to start is by going to the the Inland Revenue website : taxcredits.inlandrevenue.gov.uk. On this website you can find out what benefits/tax credits are on offer to you, and also how you can claim .

It’s important to note that the way in which many tax credits are computed are usually rather intricate, so it’s a smart move to call the tax office and speak with a representative there, and explain your particular situation. That way they can determine whether you meet the requirements for certain benefits/tax credits or not - since the application forms you need to fill in can be quite long and time-consuming to complete.

Not only is it important to know what tax credits / benefits you may be eligible for, but you may consider a family member who may be eligible for such a benefit.

June 9th, 2009 On the Level, Take Action and Meet New Singles

I’m not the kind of cheesball dude, traditionally accustomed to watching junk tv solo every weekend. I’d bet people haven’t read me post on great dating and companionship. There’s a reason for that.

Idleness is an avoidable trait and intentionally ripped out of my man programming (man-gramming?). Even so, Here’s the situation, I definitely needed to squelch a special relationship and I felt a great deal for but essentially would never last. I guess one might tell ya it may have been ages since I dated. I’m missing the optimism of dating thru great expectations I once did.

Single life has had its perks so far. One thing is for sure, I won’t stay in peacefully devowering Two and a Half Men on my big screen. The primary cause of this spell of temporary dating lameness? We’re not in high school, and everyone else is boring.

My take-no-holds college friend, Andrew, who doesn’t know the meaning of dating apathy, sympathized because he is currently in a similar place. He introduced me to this Dallas dating service called Great Expectations. Not usually my thing, but I enjoy mingling among new ladies around my age. Surprise, I decided to make a change and I’m now a satisfied member.

The point is, you wouldn’t complain by going dateless if you haven’t called anyone. Just like my college soccer coach Paul Neelon snuck into conversation as his idea of encouragement, “You’re complaining to the competition, sonny.”

Sheer genius, right? Still, the old guy was right in a way nobody could understand. He always made us laugh. The fantastic series of singles events in Dallas here might’ve done a number on his mind.

At great expectations singles events I talked to a ton of insightful and desirable ladies that meet my expectations. I actually had a good time with a few intelligently incredible men and women. The evening ended following a promising exchange of numbers, in addition to the fact that I developed some social networking connections for my career. I’m impressed.

Take action. You won’t be happy if you sit the bench. Don’t sell yourself short, believe in your own great expectations for yourself.

Respectfully,

Keith

May 28th, 2009 How to Pass Hair Drug Tests

Hair Drug Testing

False vs. Reality

Open: Hair drug testing is impressive, but not a popular course of drug testing, because it is therefore expensive.

Closed: drug tests are indeed far more than high-priced rather than a standardurinalysis–we’re talking dollar bills to cents here–and is a newer form of drug testing, so most employers prefer for a ordinary urine drug test. Psychemedics, the companythat makes hair drug tests in the United States, has been quite productive at depressing the monetary value and raising cognisance, but a full shift from urine to hairhas a long road in front of it.

Open: There is tiny deviation between a urine drug test, and hair drug testing.

Closed: false. A urine drug test is cleaner, less expensive, open, and at this point, an acknowledged method of drug testing. Hair drug testing is far less invading–inducing it perfect for sensitive arenas of testing, such as student drug tests–than its similitude.

Myths: Hair drug testing will detect toxin exposure and/or illicit drug use fromseveral years past.

Reality: Indeed, hair drug testing will unveil drug “use”–direct andindirect exposure–for up to seven years. The hair strand is analyzed analogous toevaluating the years of a tree by its internal ring structure. Body hair is likea Velcro for all things ingested from your diet, the air you breathe, and yes, to any banned substances. This is a tremendous benefit of hair drug testing, butalso puts a greater rational dilemma: is exposure true “use”?

Myth: Hair drug testing can be overcame by trimming your head.

Case Closed: While continuing empty of hair may appear to make good sense when posed witha drug test that uses hair as its specimen, alas for you, no, it won’t work. For example, not like you could go out, buy a , shave your head, and pass hair drug testmethods simply because your bald! Funny, eh? No, seriously, the examiner will justclip some body hair. There is zero way to shave your path out of a hair drug test.

April 23rd, 2009 Opting between

Hoards of people will need to select between filing financial insolvency or allowing their mortgage lender to foreclose their home. If monthly or bi-weekly mortgage payments are not received as scheduled, the bank may file a foreclosure on the property. You may disrupt the home foreclosure process by paying the mortgage lender as scheduled. Home loans are much similar to automobile loans; if you do not pay your monthly payments you might get it repossessed. Foreclosure is the same for all who have not been able to pay his or her house loan, the bank will start foreclosure proceedings.

Insolvency proceedings are a legal action registered by somebody who is not able to pay her debt. If the debtor is in the process of bankruptcy then all current civil legal proceedings associated with the home loan are put on hold. Legally, a mortgage bank has to cease all collection processes, including foreclosure. A home loan lender may ask for relief from the automatic stay period, and once it is granted, may go on with the foreclosure process. Bankruptcy will not halt foreclosure and you still must pay back your loan. Bankruptcy only makes the process proceed slower, it will not solve the original problem.

Even though insolvency does not end a foreclosure totally, it could give a person enough time to pay back the overdue amounts or at a minimum it will make it tiny bit easier to repay a lender. Insolvency proceedings requires a home loan to freeze foreclosure actions, a mortgage payer will have a short time to raise the cash necessary to pay the creditor. It is the final option for any debtor to file for financial insolvency when the debtor is totally incapable of to satisfying their lenders’ terms of repayment. With insolvency, some debts will in all likelihood be discharged but the mortgage will not be cleared. The borrower has to be willing to repay the real estate loan within the mandated time as the debt is secured by tangible assets. Additionally, Chapter 13 bankruptcy has a pay schedule that will be court-ordered, that lets the home owner make payments on her real estate loan to get up to date on their mortgage payments.

Before the home owner can file for bankruptcy, they must meet the conditions. If they do qualify, there will be legal fees. It might cost more in legal fees than if they were to just buckle down and make your mortgage payment. If you are thinking that filing for bankruptcy may be a solution to the problem, a bankruptcy lawyer will probably be able to answer whatever questions you have. Because insolvency proceedings are really complicated, the home owner really ought not attempt to do it without help from a a lawyer.

This is not legal advice. Contact a bankruptcy lawyer in your state for bankruptcy advice advisement.

January 8th, 2009 Can Seeds Go Bad?

Do you keep gardening seeds from the previous seasons? What is the oldest pouch you have? Have you used the seeds? It is probably time to check those seeds.

With gardening seeds, they have a pretty long shelf life, but its always good to check them to make sure they will still grow. A good method of checking your gardening seeds is by using the following steps.

You will need:

Paper towel

zipper bag

water

seeds

1) Take a paper towel wet it in some water. It doesn’t need to be dripping wet.

2) Place 3-5 seeds onto the paper towel, then fold the towel, this will help hold the moisture for the seeds and it will also help the seeds to mature a bit.

3) Place into a zipper bag. This will act as a green house for your gardening seeds.

4) Wait. In about 2-3 days check the seeds to see if they have started to grow. Depending on the seeds this could take a little longer. If so, wait the appropriate amount of time, then check again. If the seeds haven’t grown any, chances are they are no longer good.

Many gardening seeds can actually be kept for several years. But, depending on the conditions in which the sees are kept, this will affect the longevity of your seeds.

The best way to store your gardening seeds is in a container in a dark cool place. If you have a spare drawer in your home this works great. A nice storage container to house them in is helpful as well, you can find one at your local dollar store.

Speaking of dollar stores, they are a good source for your gardening seeds, in many cases you can get 10 packages of seeds for a dollar, so keep an eye out at your local dollar store. This does vary. You can find a variety from flowers to many vegetables.

Happy Gardening!

January 3rd, 2009 A Apple Valley California attorney lost from a lawfirm in Midland Texas

As long as the adverse action is based on reasonable factors other than age. The company had its supervisors rate their subordinates based on their performance flexibility and critical skills. Twenty-eight of those 20 employees sued under the ADEA claiming Knolls illegally fired them because of their age. For example it would not be illegal to consider criteria for a particular role in a movie that has a disparate impact on age if the part calls for someone of a particular age. At the trial a jury found Knolls had violated the ADEA because its layoff procedure had a disparate impact based on age. In other words the ADEA permits employers to discriminate based on age considering age is legitimately necessary under the circumstances. Knolls totaled those scores and gave the employees additional points based on their years of service. The BFOQ defense states that it is not unlawful for an employer to take adverse employment actions otherwise prohibited by the ADEA where age is a bona fide occupational qualification reasonably necessary to the normal operation of the particular business. In reaching its conclusion that the employer has the burden to prove the reasonable factors other than age defense the Supreme Court looked at another provision of the ADEA the bona fide occupational qualification defense. The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit initially affirmed the jurys findings but after the United States Supreme Court asked it to reconsider the Second Circuit reversed itself and ruled in favor of Knolls. It has the burden to prove that its decision was based on a reasonable factor other than age. The Supreme Court then agreed to hear the case and eventually reversed the Second Circuit and reinstated the jurys finding that Knolls policy unlawfully discriminated because of age. Thirty of the 23 salaried employees the company laid off were at least 63 years old. A lawyer from Doetinchem won from a advocate in Euclid Ohio In Meacham Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory was planning to lay off a number of employees. In that case Meacham versus Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory the Supreme Court interpreted a provision of the ADEA that permits an employer to take an adverse employment action against an employee. Specifically the jury found that although the plaintiffs did not prove that Knolls intentionally discriminated against them they did prove that Knolls method of deciding who to lay off disproportionately harmed older workers. Even if the employment action is otherwise prohibited by the ADEA. The Supreme Court ruled that if an employer seeks to rely on that defense. It then used those totals to decide who to lay off. The Supreme Court has previously recognized that the employer has the burden to establish the BFOQ affirmative defense.

August 26th, 2008 Buying a Franchise orStarting Alone

I have often been asked what the best way to start a business is You can buy a franchise or build a company from the ground up. Both have benefits and downfalls.

There are many franchises available to buy. Many companies you use are probably franchises, from restaurants to cleaning services. When you purchase a franchise you are basically getting a business in a box. When you buy into a franchise, many aspects of the business including marketing are taken care of off. There are many different franchises available. Some will give you the business name, equipment and everything you need for start up, others only give you the basics and you still have to buy or lease a location, purchase equipment and the inventory you will need.

The negatives of buying a franchise however are that you are not free to change much of your business model, and of course the initial outlay. Visit the Key Mergers website for more information or if you would like to f you would like to buy a business or for details of available franchises.

Starting your own business from scratch however means that you can grow the business organically over time, you can limit your initial outlay and you can be as creative with the direction of your business as you like. Depending on how novel your new enterprise is, it is possible that your will have a steep testing curve and will have to make all of your own connections.

So, as you have probably gathered by now, the decision whether to buy a franchise or go it alone are multi-dimensional There is no one size fits all advise.

May 14th, 2008 Tips for planning a retirement party

Throwing a retirement party should be just as fun as planning a retirement party. A retirement party should be a big thank you for an employee’s long term hard work and dedication. Understanding the person’s personality is the key to planning the perfect party. You don’t want to single out a person that doesn’t like being the center of attention. If the person loves begin the center of attention then it is ok to hold a roast consisting of a large group of people for that individual. Understanding the person’s likes, dislikes and personality is the most important thing you can do to plan the perfect retirement party for that person.

You will need to create budget. Food, drinks, venue and entertainment are all equally important. When panning the perfect retirement party you should center everything around the honoree’s interests, hobbies, activities and passions. You can plan a basket ball game or some other type of fun activity. You should strongly consider whether planning a surprise party or not. A surprise party might really bring the occasion together if it fits the honoree’s personality. If a surprise party doesn’t fit the person’s personality then planning a surprise party might ruin the entire party. So be very care when considering whether or not a surprise party is right.
